ACE `07
June 28-30, 2007, Aachen, Germany
The 4th workshop on Advanced Computational Electromagnetics (ACE'07) is scheduled to take place just after Compumag'2007, in Aachen, from Thursday June 28 (afternoon) until Saturday June 30 (evening). It is organised by François Henrotte at the Institute of Electrical Machines of the RWTH Aachen University. It will build on the precedent of the two Finnish editions organised in Tampere by Lauri Kettunen and the last edition organised in Boston by Robert Kotiuga (http://www.bu.edu/eng/ace2006).
The list of the topics addressed at the ACE`06 workshop in Boston
can be found here.
Recently, the trend towards miniaturisation, the increase of operating frequencies, and the emergence of new materials have made the Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools inadequate. Although engineers working daily on the modelling of modern technology devices understand clearly those limitations, it remains unclear which road should be followed.
Obviously, if progress is to be made, the discipline has to integrate new theoretical concepts. But the gap to fill is substantial and a creative forum is needed where such issues can be debated specifically. The ACE workshops are intended to be such a forum, where the best knowledge in the fields of Mathematics, Physics and Numerical analysis can be shared in a rather informal way and without pressure to publish. The objective of the workshop is to address open questions in Computational Electromagnetism in a broad perspective, and to invite key speakers to present their views and to share their experience with a knowledgeable audience.
