Full Paper Guidelines

This page provides a short information about how to prepare the extended version of you paper. Follow hyperlinks inlined with the text to access official reference documents.

Transmag.pdf is the reference document for preparing "IEEE Transactions on Magnetics" (IEEE TMAG) papers. Please follow carefully all indications given in this document.

Additional information about how to prepare IEEE papers in general is found in the "Information for IEEE Journal Authors" document.

General information

Papers presented at the conference will be considered for publication in a special issue of the "IEEE Transactions on Magnetics" journal after a second peer-review process.

The length of all extended papers is limited to 4 pages.

Write "Manuscript received June 24, 2007." in an unnumbered footnote, at the bottom of the left column on the first page of your manuscript.

Templates

LaTeX users should dowload the "IEEEtran.zip" archive and expand it. Put the class file IEEEtran.cls into your working directory or into your TeX path (somewhere that LaTeX can find them) and use the tex file "bare_jrnl.tex" as a "starter file" for producing your paper. The document "IEEEtran_HOWTO.pdf" gives you information about how to use the IEEEtran.cls class file.

Microsoft Word users should dowload the "Transmag.doc" file, and use it as a template. Please follow also the instructions and recommendations in this file for preparing your paper.

Full Paper submission

The submission procedure is the same as for the Two-Page Digests. Log in on the Conference server. and follow the links "Your Submissions", "Submit Contribution" and "Full Paper". Only Adobe Acrobat PDF documents are accepted.

Full Papers are due June 24, 2007.

During the submission process, you are asked to indicate the ID (e.g. 123, NOT the session number) of the Two-Page Digest corresponding with the Full Paper. You are also asked to indicate a Main topic for the Full Paper, in order to help the Editorial Board chair assigning it to the best qualified reviewers. You should normally select the same topic as for the Two-Page Digest. If not, please explain briefly the reason for the change in the Message to the Conference Chairs field, at the bottom of the submission webpage.

The field Message to the Reviewers allows you to convey information to the reviewers of your paper. When useful, cite briefly the relevant reviewer's comments about you Two-Page Digest, and explain shortly how they have been addressed in the extended version. Please note that the reviewers of the Full paper are not granted access to the review reports of the Two-Page Digest. Your message should therefore be self-contained and make no unexplained references to those reports, i.e. write "Reviewer1 said this. I would like to answer that" instead of "With regard to Reviewer1's first remark, I would like to answer...", etc.

Final submission (Manila envelope)

After the peer-review process, a number of papers have been selected for publication in the April 2008 special issue of the "IEEE Transactions on Magnetics" journal, subject to the payment of a 150€ publication fee per published paper. Information about this payment is found here.

Authors of accepted papers are now invited to send to the Editorial Board Chair a final submission package (Manila envelope) containing the following items:

  • 2 paper copies of the manuscript revised according to the reviewer's comments
  • a filled-in "IEEE copyright form"
  • a contact information sheet for all authors
  • enlarged paper copies of all figures
  • a hardcopy of the paper where all modifications done with respect to the reviewed version are clearly highlighted
  • a CD-rom containing
    • the manuscript source files in Word or LaTeX
    • the final version of the manuscript in PDF format
    • individual figure files (accepted formats are TIFF, PDF, JPG, GIF, EPS, DOC, PPT)
    • individual table files

Refer also to section II.C. in Transmag.pdf.

Final submission packages, along with the payment of the publication fee, are due in Aachen before November 1st, 2007. Please send the package to the following address:
